E4, on behalf of Samtonn, the collaboration vehicle of STEF, the collecting agency for authors and SFH, which represents both performers and labels in Iceland, produced and hosted a half day conference focusing on copyright.
The event, staged at the Harpa concert hall, brought together professionals using music in the production of adverts, TV shows and movies on one hand and composers, lyricists, performers and labels on the other for an active conversation.
Many myths of who can use what and how where discussed and quite a few members of the audience did realize that they have not been fully aware of all the rights involved with legal usage of music. Following a safari through the jungle of music rights in laymen’s terms, each type of music sync was discussed.
The event opened an overdue dialog which will bring the collaboration of the media production industry and the music industry to a higher level.
